Welcome to GroundUp's fun puzzle that doesn't take itself too seriously. Cryptic(ish) is an irreverent mix of puns, general knowledge and newsy clues with a few cryptic ones thrown in for the brave. You don't need to be a crossword whiz to solve it - you just need to enjoy wordplay.

Some readers have complained our crossword is too difficult. Some say it's too simple. So we've hit on a compromise. We'll alternate. If the crossword has an even number, it's easier. If it has an odd number, it's harder. Today is Cryptic(ish) number 4, which is even, so it's a little easier.
